In 1973 Alan Koehler of
Calgary's Social Service Department suggested to the Alderman
Gordon Shrake, who was President of Southview Community Association,
to start a Seniors Club.
Working with Ed Laribay &
Harry Gordon the club was formed.
In 1974 with Alderman Shrake,
they secured the Dover Field House,
as the permanent home for
Greater Forest Lawn 55+ Society,
which is now known as
GFL 55+ Society or GFLS.
